This week I have been pondering these questions: What is Spiritual Muscle and how do we build it?

We all know that to grow and maintain a healthy body we need to eat the right foods, drink the right liquids and exercise and do all these regularly and in the right quantities. It is no different with building and maintaining our Spiritual Muscle, what goes into our minds, through our thoughts, through our eyes, and ears we need to be constantly filtering through our Spiritual lens and adjusted throughout our life. Those things that we allow to enter not of God we need to be deal with them so we that can be aligned with Him.

If we are to be kingdom people, we cannot isolate ourselves from the world in which we live; but we can choose to see things through Spiritual eyes and deal with them through the Spirit, and in doing so build up our Spiritual Muscles or we can choose to allow ourselves to be weakened by seeing things merely through our earthly eyes and responding in earthly ways. 1 Thessalonians 5:16 -22 reminds us that to keep healthy in our mind body and soul we are to rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for us in Christ Jesus. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not treat prophecies with contempt but test them all; hold on to what is good, reject every kind of evil. We cannot claim that we are growing in Spirit or flexing our spiritual muscles, if we are not constantly connecting with God through prayer, reading of the Scriptures and being led by Holy Spirit.

I encourage you to think on these words, pray about then and talk about them with your family. Please feel free to give feedback on any or all of these weekly thoughts.
