I am continuing to write on the theme, Building and Flexing Spiritual Muscles. As I have continued to build up my own spiritual strength through reading the Word from the Bible, I have become more confident in who I am. Through the Scriptures, I understand my gifts and talents, and have strengthened them to help me through everyday life, in my family, in my work, in my community and in my extended networks. It is a privilege to be able to pass what I have learned to others. This week, I am taking a closer look at the role of Pastors and Teachers.

The pastors and teachers are to train and equip us to get on with our ministry. Ephesians 4:12 says they are called to equip God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up. Pastors and teachers instructed with training and equipping the army of God to prepare for and be ready to struggle against principalities and powers and succeed!

Ephesians 6:10-18 “Until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming.”

We are to be in “unity of the faith”, unified in knowing Jesus and mature. The mature church knows Jesus and is not easily swayed by false teachings. In this unity we become a functional and healthy body.

Ephesians 4:15-16 “Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.”

I encourage you to think on these words, pray about then and talk about them with your family.
